Dreams and Death

Poem written around 6 months ago.
Thought of one line, and was generally disappointed with stuff, wrote this piece. Its ok.

Dreams and Death

Have you ever watched the death of a dream,
Seen it shatter, crumble and fade away,
Into recesses of despair, to oblivion and beyond,
As it moves to forlorn darknss from hopeful day?

Have you ever seen man grasping at straws,
Clinging to hope just so he may just hope again,
And plead in tribunals of time and death,
To but enjoy the fruits of his toil and pain?

Have you ever nurtured a desire, a dream,
And for it hoped reality's embrace,
Only to finally see its destruction,
And feel the charred embers burn your face?

Have you ever achieved success in life,
Met and been loved by elusive Fame,
Seen your dreams come alive, been overjoyed,
Only to hear on Death's lips your name?

As my errant mind wanders new horizons,
Sadistic options balance in questioning mind,
Situations, crises unfold and choices,
Arise up, and demand to be determined.

What could be worse, I wonder,
When after encountering hardship infinite,
Would not watch the life of your dreams?
Or would you rather watch your dreams die?

- Thriddas Anorak

I like the ending. The rest is a tad bit forced.
